International Education Week (IEW) is happening November 13-17, 2017 and will feature a calendar of events across campus and in the local community. We strongly encourage participation from colleges, departments, clubs, organizations, or centers. In particular, we would like to encourage opportunities that engage the Albuquerque community. Every UNM student should have an opportunity for international connection during that week.
Here is how to participate: Identify a globally relevant speaker or event that your unit can support during the week (ideas below). Complete the IEW participation form below so the IEW committee can help promote your event. Filling out the participation form will guarantee inclusion on the calendar and in our promotion. Please submit your form by October 27 to ensure maximum exposure. Events submitted after this date will not appear in printed materials.
Here are some ideas:
Are you hosting or do you have an international scholar on your faculty? Consider holding a faculty forum to showcase their expertise and provide a global perspective to students and/or the community. Incorporate a week of international discussion into course curricula
Secure a globally-relevant speaker to talk about the global changes or trends in your discipline
Host a competition within your college focused on global education, leadership, art or culture
Create an "internationally/culturally aware" student award sponsored by your college
If you already have an international event planned, consider holding it the week of Nov. 13-17 for more exposure
If you already have events planned the week prior or the week following IEW, please submit those to our calendar as well
Consider giving extra credit to students that attend one or more events during the week.
Your logistics person is invited to join the IEW management committee. Please fill out the form below or email Denise Bucci at email@example.com
regarding inclusion in this process or if you have any questions. We need your involvement to make the week a success.
